The First Day of 2017
After a long night of celebrating, many hours of sleeping is what we needed. Once we finally got up, I decided to take my friend for a nice walk next to the sea near Atlantis the Palm hotel.
We passed by a few construction sites along the way where they are building several new resorts. I cannot wait to see these new buildings when I return to Dubai!
In the evening, I showed my friend Anja the district called the Dubai Marina, an artificial canal city. Afterwards, we had fine dining in the French restaurant called Atelier M Restaurant. It is located on a rooftop and the view of the marina is stunning! I fell in love with this place a few years ago when I was celebrating New Years in 2015. We decided to spend the rest of the night on the rooftop terrace.
Getting to Know Dubai’s Culture
I was excited to show my friend Anja the old town and with its charming souks. This is a window into tradition in Dubai. We tried some traditional foods like shawarma, this is a well known hummus with warm bread and scented tea. Through food and tradition, we experienced a part of the culture of Dubai.
Visiting the Gold Souk is inevitable whenever I visit Dubai. We reached it with a water taxi by crossing the Dubai Creek. This place has quite a glow! The Gold Souk is the best location in Dubai for buying bracelets, earrings, and other bling-bling accessories. The quality of the gold is under government watch so there is little to worry about and the high-quality Dubai gold is relatively inexpensive. Good deal, don’t you think? My friend was more interested in the Spices Market as she is obsessed with cooking. I had to force her to leave the place because we had a dinner reservation and we were a bit tight with time.
I could not wait to experience Zuma Japanese restaurant since I love Japanese cooking. I started with the miso soup and salmon teriyaki with a salad made from steamed Japanese spinach and sesame sauce. Absolutely delicious!
Relaxing at the Pool
Zero Gravity is the name of an amazing bar, beach, and restaurant. It is located right in the center of Dubai and it is surrounded by modern skyscrapers. There you can listen to great music while having a dip in the extraordinary pool. Enjoying a beautiful day by the pool, walking on the sand by the sea and listening nice sounds of music made our day fulfilled.
I didn’t have enough of Japanese food the day before so we went to Nobu. For starters, we tried a lychee martini, so yummy. I must say that the service was excellent and the staff here was so nice! We tried some different dishes but what stood out the most was the black cod and the Wagyu.
Let’s go shopping
My compliments to the H Hotel – it has everything you can possibly imagine at a hotel. Today we took advantage of swimming pool at the hotel and it was great exercise before going to the Dubai Mall.
We were very satisfied with all of the amenities. The only thing that threw a shadow on this experience were some clouds. They quickly covered the sun and it started to get cold. This did not matter because we were more than excited to go shopping. Girls have to do what girls have to do. The Dubai Mall is so big that you need a map to know your way around. Here you can find literally everything you could possibly want. I should tell you a little secret, shopping is my weakness. Even if I know that I really don’t need anything, I still must buy something and little spending here and there will not kill me I guess.
We found a place for dinner and afterward we went to see the famous fountain between the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa. The Dubai Fountain is one big dancing fountain and it is spectacular. We could not wait to see one of the choreographies from the repertoire – ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson. We continued the evening with the party at the Billionaire’s Club.
The Last Day of the Trip
One more thing we had to visit in Dubai was the JBR Walk – The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence. The JBR Walk is one of the tourist attractions in Dubai where you can find so many things to do. First, we went swimming there. Of course we had to check out little shops where you can get a lots of cute things and afterwards we grabbed something to eat at a nice Thai restaurant.
A party was not on our agenda for the night because we had to leave Dubai the next day. Instead, we made a reservation at Mandara Spa where we spent the last day of our New Year journey just relaxing. I love Dubai and cannot wait to go back!
