On my around the world trip, I visit Los Angeles. Here I stayed at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. This hotel has a luxury feel to it and is absolutely beautiful. For dining, The Bazaar by José Andrés at SLS is a great restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One area of the hotel I enjoyed the most was the rooftop named Altitude. Everything from the pool, the view, the food, to the service, were all amazing. I would be happy just staying here but I need to move and explore.
One of my first exploration stops is the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The walk includes brass stars honoring the contributions to the entertainment industry. I found Michael Jackson, Steven Spielberg, and Scarlet Johansen to name just a few. Along the way, I visited Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Here the stars have their hand and foot prints along with signatures in the concrete. The area is crowded but I find a few familiar names such as Comedian Eddie Murphy and Filmmaker George Lucas. Speaking of George Lucas, this theater has been the host to many movie premiers including his movie Star Wars back in 1977.
For dinner, I head to Mastro’s in Beverly Hills that includes a nice outdoor area where I enjoy one of my favorite dishes, Lobster Mashed Potatoes that were done to perfection and a delicious salad and sushi. This restaurant does an excellent job with food and has a nice atmosphere.
I am determined to see the Hollywood sign so I do a little research since my last experience included an hour-long Uber ride stuck in traffic. I discovered Lake Hollywood Park which offers great views of the sign for pictures and is easy to access with no hassles. If you are in town, go here to see the sign!
Finally, I visited Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel. Skybar has one of the best nightlife and bar scenes in all of Los Angeles. The pool area is amazing by day and at night things liven up with music, great views, and amazing food. Everything here is well done and the service is outstanding.
